Curriculum

Building on the Middle School curriculum, pupils in the Senior School embark in Year 9 on three-year GCSE studies.

Pupils follow a broad EBACC range of subjects with the core subjects of English, maths and science. All pupils must follow:

  • Either History or Geography
  • A Modern Foreign Language (unless in individual circumstances which have previously been organised by school)
  • 2 additional subjects (this can be a language if a pupil wishes to follow 2 languages or either History/Geography if the subject has not already been chosen) N.B Pupils should NOT pick a subject twice
In addition to the academic curriculum the pupils in Year 9-11 will also follow a core ‘welfare’ curriculum which incorporates statutory elements of Citizenship, Religious Studies, Careers and PSHE.

The aim of this is to educate our pupils to be successful members of society and to have awareness of each other and the world they live in.

It is really important to look carefully at the different courses to ensure you are making the right choice. Not all subject choices are the same and they are all assessed in a multitude of ways.

Sixth Form
Moving into Sixth Form students are required to obtain the entry requirement for the subjects they have opted for - click here for more information. The entry requirements show our commitment to our Sixth Form being an academic establishment, where high standards are expected from all our students.

Most students will follow three A Level subjects in Sixth Form, although there are exceptions to this.

We will be happy to discuss this on a case by case basis with students and parents, should they so wish - for more information on the Sixth Form curriculum click here.
