The philosophy of girls’ hockey at Kings Priory School is simple: to enable all the girls to fulfil their individual potential, to make the most of the opportunities available and to enjoy playing hockey at a consistently high standard.
Make no mistake that girls' sport is taken just as importantly as the boys! They are equally well supported in their endeavours by knowledgeable and committed staff.
Our impressive fixture list includes county league matches, county tournaments, county knockouts, Tyneside Schools’ competitions and the National Schools Competitions at U13, U14, U16 and U18 age groups. Matches are played throughout the autumn and spring terms taking place during Games afternoons and after school. In 2014-15 our First XI were Northumberland County Champions.
Tours are an important part of girls’ hockey at Kings Priory School and recent destinations have provided the challenge of playing against players with a very different style of hockey to their own.
We encourage as many players as possible to become part of the single system. This is the pathway to excellence in hockey and starts with junior development centres, leading to junior academy centres and then Regional Performance centres. A number of pupils have progressed through the system to gain regional honours.
Whilst being very proud of our recent success in hockey we are still ambitious and continually strive to excel at the highest level.
