National Youth Orchestra of Great Britain

Izzie (pictured) has been successful in auditioning for the celebrated National Youth Orchestra of Great Britain (NYO).

From a staggering 720 applications from musicians across the UK, all playing at Grade 8 Distinction standard, Izzie is one of only164 to be offered a place.

NYO is the world's greatest orchestra of teenagers.  Founded in 1948, the NYO was awarded The Queen's Medal for Music in 2012, in acknowledgement of the world-class standards of the orchestra, and national life.  In 2017 NYO was awarded the RPS Ensemble Award, the UK's highest classical music accolade.

NYO challenges its teenage musicians to engage in all kinds of musical and extra-musical activities.  During their time with NYO, musicians are asked to take a high degree of personal responsibility within the orchestra and all will take a leadership role with in the NYO Inspire programme, sharing musical skills to help other teenage musicians develop or introduce them to classical music.

Being part of the NYO requires very high levels of commitment, which is well rewarded.  Being part of this wonderful group can be life changing for members by giving the highest level of application, self-discipline and achievement in all that they do.

Izzie will be able to take part in three NYO Residencies with academic support given by NYO as well as the incredible musical experience she will have.

NYO musicians perform across the country as well, as at the BBC Proms, so everyone is be able to witness the power and passion of this incredible orchestra.  Look out for concerts near you.

We wish Izzie every success with the NYO and look forward to experiencing the beauty of this wonderful talent.
