Educational Visits

One of the most exciting aspects of our curriculum is the wide range of educational visits on offer. Our sixth form pupils frequently visit universities, careers fairs and workshops, theatres, events and competitions.
But the most popular of our visits are overseas. These visits have links to the curriculum but are open to all and help our pupils build ‘cultural capital’ – that is the wealth of experience and interaction that helps each person develop their understanding of the world.
Our Geography department runs two incredibly popular visits, alternating each year between Italy and Iceland. Previous visits to Sicily and Naples have proved very successful, with a great mix of site seeing and exploring Geographical features like volcanoes and historic sites. In addition, our Music, Art and Design department run a visit to Copenhagen with its beautiful architecture and unmatched art galleries. We are pleased that Science is repeating their annual visit to CERN in Geneva, to see one of the world’s largest laboratories. Pupils get to see the massive underground ‘Large Hadron Collider’ which is the cutting edge of particle physics, running 27 kilometres in an underground tunnel!
And in February of 2026 pupils are exploring New York, with its skyscrapers, parks, museums and iconic streets, absorbing the sites and sounds of one of the centre of 21st Century culture. Our Politics, Economics and Business Department also collaborate with the History department to run several London visits each year, including a visit to the Houses of Parliament, Supreme Court, Bank of England and Trafalgar Square. Most recently the politics A Level group were treated to a live debate in the House of Commons on British foreign policy, seeing all of the key figures in government and politics in action just a few metres from their seats.
We’re exploring new offers too – to Andalucía to practise your Spanish and to the Alps, for the skiing adventure of a lifetime.
We do all of this because learning doesn’t start or end in the classroom – and everyone deserves the opportunity to travel as part of their education.
