The Sixth Form is often described as the most challenging and demanding, yet enjoyable and rewarding time of your school career. This is certainly the case at Kings Priory School.
The opportunities in and out of the classroom are endless, even though the challenges both academically and personally are more rigorous and fulfilling. There is a much greater emphasis on independent study in the Sixth Form to develop and harness those essential skills needed in the 21st century.
With a well established academic A Level curriculum, strong Oxbridge and Russell Group success and excellent A Level results in 2018, Kings Priory School has so much to offer Sixth Form students. A supportive pastoral environment where students are well-known to staff underpins life in the Sixth Form, where the academic success is complimented by other valuable experiences.
We offer a wide range of A Level courses; alongside core subjects such as Maths, English and the Sciences, students are able to opt for more technical subjects such as Art, Music and PE (details can be found on the Curriculum section of the Sixth Form area).
Our Sixth Form
In 2018 Kings Priory School enjoyed a 98.37% A*-E success rate at A Level with 80% of pupils attaining A*-C grades. These results were the school's best and continued a trend of academic progress in Sixth Form. The vast majority of students celebrated by accepting their first choice university offer, with nearly 45% (our highest ever) headed for a place at a prestigious Russell Group University to study a wide range of courses. Over 98% of students have accepted a place to study at university in 2018 or deferred to 2019.
One student accepted an offer to study at Oxford, becoming the tenth Kings Priory School pupil to take up an Oxbridge place since the school opened in September 2013. Every year since opening at least one student has gone to Oxbridge from Kings Priory School studying courses from PPE to Computer Science.
We offer a traditional Post-16 curriculum: we value academic achievement, have the highest expectations of our students and encourage wide participation in a range of enrichment and extra-curricular opportunities. We value all students' views and delight in their support in many day-to-day activities that help with the smooth running of the School.
So with easy transport links to both sides of the River Tyne and our location right next to the Metro in the heart of the coastal village of Tynemouth, where else would you want to study?
