SEND
At Kings Priory School, we are committed to being a fully inclusive all-through family school where every pupil is challenged to excel. We recognise that high-quality teaching is the most significant factor in removing barriers to progress, and we adapt our general teaching strategies to cater to diverse learning styles within the mainstream classroom. Our approach is strictly aligned with the SEND Code of Practice and the Children and Families Act, ensuring that our provision is not only ambitious but meets all statutory legal expectations for inclusive education.
Targeted Support & Specialised Environments
We understand that a "one size fits all" approach does not work for Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). To support our pupils, we provide specialised physical spaces and resources designed to foster both academic and emotional growth:
- The Learning Loft: This dedicated hub serves as a central point for targeted intervention and quiet study. It is a space where students can access bespoke support tailored to their Pupil Passports, learning plans or EHCP, ensuring their unique profile of strengths is celebrated.
- Safe Spaces on Both Sites: Whether at our Percy Park Road or Huntington Place site, we provide designated "Safe Spaces." These areas offer a retreat for pupils who may feel overwhelmed, providing a secure environment to regulate emotions and build the resilience needed to return to the classroom.
- Reasonable Adjustments: In accordance with the Equality Act 2010, we proactively make reasonable adjustments to ensure disabled pupils can participate in every aspect of school life alongside their peers without disadvantage.
Continuity as an All-Through School
As an all-through Academy, we offer a unique advantage: continuity of support. From the first day in Reception to the final day of Sixth Form, the "thread of inclusion" remains unbroken. We utilise a graduated approach to assessment, working in close partnership with families to ensure transitions between key stages are seamless. By maintaining a consistent support framework and shared core values of Respect, Tolerance, and Friendship, we ensure that every child—regardless of their starting point—has the stability and encouragement to realise their full potential.
