EDI

At Kings Priory School, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) are not just buzzwords; they are the lived expression of our core values: Respect, Tolerance, and Friendship. As an all-through Academy, we are dedicated to creating a culture where every individual—pupil, staff, and family member—feels a profound sense of belonging. We recognise that our school is a microcosm of the wider world, and we embrace our responsibility to foster an environment where diversity is celebrated as a fundamental strength.

Our Commitment to Equity

We understand that achieving true inclusion requires an equity-first mindset. This means recognising that our pupils start from different places and providing the specific resources and support they need to reach the same high standards of success.

  •  A Representative Curriculum: We continually review our ambitious curriculum to ensure it reflects a diverse range of voices, histories, and perspectives, preparing our students to lead as empathetic global citizens.
  • Removing Barriers: As a whole school we work tirelessly to ensure that socio-economic factors never limit a child's participation in the full "Kings Priory experience," from music tuition to international trips.
  • Inclusive Environment: From our specialised learning spaces on both sites, we provide physical and emotional environments that cater to neurodiversity and the varying physical needs of our community.

Celebrating Our Commonalities and Differences

In line with the Equality Act 2010, we take a proactive stance against discrimination. We encourage open dialogue and education regarding protected characteristics, fostering a community where "no two children are treated the same" because their individual identities are known, respected, and valued.

By weaving EDI into the fabric of our daily life—from the playground to the Sixth Form common room—we ensure that Kings Priory School remains a place where every voice is heard, every background is respected, and every student has the opportunity to flourish in an atmosphere of genuine kindness.

Our EDI Group—composed of passionate staff and student ambassadors. Our EDI group meets regularly to review our practices, amplify under-represented voices, and drive meaningful initiatives that ensure our commitment to inclusion remains a dynamic and evolving part of school life.
